Waiting for LED’s to cost Less?

Hello All

I have heard so many people speak on the “expensive” costs related to LED “ Light emitting Diodes” with interior and Exterior lighting. I understand the economical times, and how hard it is to make it in this economy from day to day. I was let go from a FT sales job prior to opening DEEP Green Lighting Solutions,LLC. I went from blowing money to scraping to pay the bills when i decided to make a go of it myself. That being said i do understand the initial mentality of “wow those are expensive” instead of the view i hope all of you will see after reading this blog

Waiting to save money by virtue doesn’t make practical sense. Its like telling your employer that you will start “Saving for retirement” at age 50 because they are only matching 50 Cents on the dollar and your waiting for them to match 75 Cents per dollar… The theory is is one of waist in your current situation. Lets use our heads and put them together to see if we can clarify what is actually happening.

If we were to buy ONE LED light for our house, the place where its used the most and often like… a safety lamp used 10 hours a day/night. This Lamp has a 75 watt incondescent light bulb and is using power at .10 cents a killowatt hour. This lamp will cost you over $22.00 per year, more in the realm of $25-30 because of your typical usage fees/taxes and other charges related to Power bills. PLUS YOU will buy about 2-3 per year if used this often that is ROUGHLY  $25-33.00 per year COSTS of running a $1.00 light. Now lets move to LED’s

If you were to pay $40,00 dollars for an LED bulb with a 50,000 hour life and ONLY USES 7 WATTS, here are the typical cost annually. At .10 cents a killowatt hour this same light will cost you an average of $2-4 Dollars per year to operate at 10 hours a night/365 days a year. With there only being 8760 hours in a year that will give you an estimated 5 years and 7 months worth of light. Lets take this number for ONE LIGHT and add this up for everyone to see why its more economical to purchase now instead of waiting for 5 years to pay less per light..

$40,00+$3.00+$3.00+$3.00+$3.00+$3.00= $55.00 for FIVE YEARS COST of running leds.

$1,00+$23.00+$1.00+$23.00+$1.00+$2300+$1.00+23.00+$1.00+$23.00=$120.00 to run the 75 watt incondescent light bulb!!!!!!! In 5 years you have saved over $65.00 per LIGHT that was replaced.

LED’s are an immediate savings plan that starts saving you money from the day of installation. I know that the majority of lights in homes are not on for 10 hours a day. I know that the majority of expenses in a homes electrical bill each month is Not lighting. But Facts are just this.. if you dont use your LED light but for 3 hours a day/night… you will not only have the SAME LIGHT BULB for the next 45 years!!!!! Never climbing a ladder, Never getting on a stool, never driving to a store in the middle of the night to purchase a replacement light and for most of us… its an investment in our homes that will cost you less than $1000,00 Dollars total. Imagine if a Bank was to tell you… Invest $1,000 dollars and I will guarantee you that $1000.00 dollars back every 2 years for the next 20+ years!!!! Would you do it?  Its simple to see that ever day that you are not using LED light, You are LOSING money. Losing money that you work for, drive in traffic for, feed your families with. We need to start rethinking our pass thoughts. While doing this PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CFL’s aka “energy efficient spiral bulbs” as these are loaded with Mercury and MUST BE RECYCLED and NOT thrown away. Mercury is illegal to put into the Garbage or landfills due to its toxic nature and poisoning of the earth…. but yet our GOVERNMENT has approved it to be in EVERY LAMP in your home. Why put your family in harms way daily, exposing them to the same MERCURY that is OUTLAWED in landfills?  This is becoming a larger epidemic and has lead to many different types of illness.. DONT BRING MERCURY INTO YOUR HOMES OR OFFICES… Please for our kids sakes.

Just Doing the RIGHT Thing

Hello Everyone

Today is a really good day. Being in the GREEN industry is by far the best choice i have made to date... Other than having my family. That being said i really would like to clarify some things and misconceptions that are sometimes related to being GREEN.

1. it doesnt take much effort to be Green
(A) all you need to do is decide and educate yourself on different ways of helping
(B) After deciding which route is best for you.... GO FOR IT, Recycle plastic, Aluminum, and especially Take your CFL bulbs back to the store after they burn out instead of "throwing them away"... you have to buy new ones anyways at that same store.

2. Its expensive to be Green
(A) its usually only an UP FRONT Cost thats sometimes expensive. Imagine buying your new car with cash and then only having to pay "liability coverage" as your monthly expense. It ultimately saves you money because your paying NO PAYMENT or INTEREST right? Same with being green
(B) In a lot of cases like LIGHTING... it PAYS YOU to be green... You are saving money hourly by using LED lighting. And your saving Gas by not having to buy replacements every year or two. Recycling Aluminum will put cash back into your pocket also.

3. Green is only a Democratic/Liberal policy to scare us
(A) this is just not correct. We all LIVE and Breath and Drink the water from our rivers and lakes. Why should only 50% of america try to create a safer water supply? Or why should others stay away from a GREAT Cause just to create a division. It definitely hurts our health more if we cant work together to decrease the toxins and poisons in our drinking water.

These are just a few misconceptions of the "GREEN MOVEMENT" and there are a lot of people that are a LOT smarter than myself saying and preaching this same message. So try and do us all a favor and recycle, buy LED lighting instead of Mercury filled Fluorescent lights, Save your money by being GREEN. Make the effort and help us all out, help our children and help our planet..... Its simple, Easy, and will make a difference for us all.

Being Duped into believing your "GREEN".

Hello Everyone.

It seems that the more people i speak to on a daily basis seem to think they are doing a "GOOD" thing by using CFL's aka Compact Fluorescents. This is an issue because they are being told that by using them they are doing the "GREEN" thing and conserving energy. THEY ARE using less energy but they are also NOT being told how to PROPERLY dispose of these "CFL's". Their are locations like Home Depot and Lowes that will recycle these at no cost to you if you simply bring them your burned out CFL's. BUT HERE IS THE ISSUE......the overwhelming numbers of the CFL's being used are never properly disposed of creating a large amount of MERCURY ADDITIONS to our landfills and ultimately our creeeks, Rivers, and Streams.

This additional Mercury could be one of the reasons why the SHARK in the oceans and Gulfs are not to be eaten. The Shark harbors the Mercury in their muscle tissue and it doesnt escape. This creates an issue to hundreds of thousands of people who live in the coastal communities that eat fish caught near the coast lines. Why is it that we just "ACCEPT" the federal governments warnings to only eat fish "a couple time a month" due to the mercury levels in most fish? Why is it that we allow the Lighting Companies use Poison to light their lamps and parking lots and streetlights with lights that they do not recycle in most cases? MERCURY IS POISONOUS!!!!! Its known and its the reason why CFL's have lost lots of customers. NOW the CFL manufacturers are adding a SILICONE coating to try and ensure you that the poison wont fill your rooms up with mercury if they explode or get broken.... Yet the installation instructions say to be careful adding them into childrens rooms. Any Guess' why? Its simple..... Its a way to make their product less likely to be sued for Mercury Poisoning if it happens because they "warned you". After all is said and done, Dont take MY WORD FOR IT... Go and Google it, or Mercury Poisoning, or Links to Autism. Its just amazing that we accept so many harmful things into OUR HOUSE and our Offices without thinking...

We recycle some things and we consider ourselves "GREEN"... When in truth we are adding more poison to our landfills daily than we ever would in recycling aluminum. Please do us all a favor and do these for starters

1. Start Recycling Plastic, aluminum, and your Fluorescent and CFL tubes.
2. Use LED lighting as much as possible to save over 50% more than by using CFL's while getting 4 times the amount of lighting time
3. Remember to tell others about the dangers of their lighting choices.
4. Remember Deep Green Lighting when you purchase your TRUELY GREEN LED LIGHTS.

Thanks.

Episcopal Church of the Annunciation

Hello Everyone

This is my very first attempt at a blog so please excuse me if its subpar. All is well in the "DEEP Green" world as we have been working on our first Church retrofit. The Episcopal Church of the Annunciation on Jamerson Road in Marietta Georgia has had the HPS 200 Watt lights replaced with a set of 16 LED Downlights supplied by Deep Green Lighting Solutions, LLC . The difference is amazing as we removed 12 of the HPS 200 Watt units and replaced them with 16 of the 13.5 Watt led downlight units.

Now the Church has went from using over 2400 watts at all times to using ONLY 216 Watts max consumption. This IS GREEN.... Also they were replacing the HPS lights roughly once per year and the LED lighting installed has a 5 year warranty and a 100,000 hour life expectancy. As I spoke with the bishop he told me that in some cases...."you just have to do whats right" and being GREEN and adding Zero amounts of Mercury is just that. He was dead on correct.

I hope you all have a great work week and that you take the time to appreciate the churches and the people that make my work possible as they are a wonderful group of people to be thinking "big picture" and not thinking solely about themselves and helping me and my company "save Energy and the Planet, One light at a time.
